Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. I started playing soccer at the age of 4 years old and played until I was 18 years old. I played on a traveling club team and for my high school. After high school, I went to Texas Tech University and got my degree in Early Childhood education. I moved to Austin in 2005. I worked for Austin ISD for 7 years as an elementary school teacher. I stopped teaching when my second child was born. I discovered my passion for health and fitness during these years. I have now been a health coach through Beachbody and personal trainer with Camp Gladiator for almost 4 years.
How many Children do you have?
I have 3 kids that are each 19 months apart. William is in 2nd grade and almost 8. Wade is in Kindergarten and is 6 years old. Katie will start Kindergarten next year and is 4 years old.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I met my husband at Hula Hut. We love taking our kids there and showing them where we met.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Without a doubt, I have to thank my husband. Not only is he a great dad but he supports me in all of my decisions with motherhood and my career.
I also have to thank every other mom that I have come in contact with either face to face, through social media, or the internet. I am obsessed with personal development. I soak up every parenting book, blog, podcast, or YouTube video that I can.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
I love to go camping with my kids. Last year, my husband and I bought a camper for our family. We try to make it a priority to escape on a camping trip once a month.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world?
After being pregnant or nursing for 5 straight years, I started my own health and fitness journey with the 21 Day Fix workouts and meal plan. I fell in love with how I felt by making my health a priority again. I knew I wanted to pay it forward and help other women like my Beachbody Coach helped me. After a few months of coaching, I wanted to also be able to teach fitness. In December of 2015, I decided to also join Camp Gladiator. I have now been coaching and training for almost 4 years.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
After a short time as a stay at home mom, I realized that many moms also had a side gig. I loved being at home with my kids but I missed having something of my own. I love that I have found a way to support my family financially but also have a very flexible job with kids. I’m able to take my kids to school and pick them up. I’m able to be involved with their school PTA.
